The Twitter “Dickbar”
“It’s offensive because it’s deeply bad, showing complete disregard for quality, product design, and user respect, and we’ve come to expect a lot more from Twitter.”—Marco Arment on the Twitter Quick Bar
Twitter has introduced a foreign element—in a very intrusive way—into an inherently intimate experience. When you do that in such a blunt way, your users are going to feel betrayed and it’s going to come off as offensive. Your users know you have to make money, but don’t destroy the personal experience that these apps allow you to have.
More to the point, don’t ruin the experience of your app and then tell potential competitors to not bother making better apps through vague and confusing messages, as that’s just a dick-move.

It’s a lot better since the last update, I assume this is about the original incarnation rather than it’s current state?
Not sure I have seen the last update. I know they let it scroll with the page, so you didn’t have to always have it in view but that still doesn’t get away from the fact that it’s intrusive to an otherwise personal experience.
That’s essentially all they’ve changed but it is a big improvement on what it was
This says it all if you ask me
Wow, that’s a lot of one star reviews.
lol if it was really used as much as Twitter is implying, why get rid of it?
Not sure, perhaps everyone who used it hated it.
